Asia Pacific Military Health Exchange 2015 opens in the city

The Asia Pacific Military Health Exchange 2015 (APMHE-2015), which has 'Global Health Cooperation' as its theme, is taking place in Da Nang until 18 September.

Co-hosted by the US Army’s Medical Corps and its Vietnamese counterpart, the event is being attended by 500 delegates, over 300 of whom are from 28 countries and territories worldwide.

During the 5-day event, participants will present 214 scientific reports on various specialist subjects.  They include external and internal medicine, infections, environmental hygiene, disease prevention and control, emergency aid during disasters, community healthcare, training military medical staff, traditional medicine, medical equipment, and the application of advanced technology in the healthcare sector.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Monday morning, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam’s People’s Army, Lieutenant General Le Chiem, remarked that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence has highlighted the significance of the event for enhancing the health and happiness of the community and in maintaining regional peace and development.

Lieutenant General Chiem added that the Vietnamese Army's Medical Corps is making every effort to fulfil its assigned tasks of setting up a level 2 field hospital as part of the country’s participation in United Nation peacekeeping missions, and completing procedures for joining the International Committee on Military Medicine.
