City leader hosts South Korean diplomat
During his recent reception for the Consul General of South Korea in Ha Noi, Mr Park Sang Shik, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Phung Tan Viet remarked that there are now 46 South Korea-invested projects operating in the city, with a total registered investment capital of over 720 million USD. Some of them are proving effective, especially those involved in such aspects as garments for export, real estate and technical support.
Vice Chairman Viet said that he would like Mr Park to introduce Da Nang’s image to more South Korean localities and encourage more businesses from his country to invest into the city with a focus on local top priority aspects such as hi-tech, tourism, trade, education and health.

The city leader also hoped that South Korea would give more assistance to local Agent Orange/dioxin victims and cancer patients, and he urged its businesses to deploy their investment projects in the city as soon as possible.
In reply, the South Korean diplomat remarked that Da Nang is a beautiful city with many great development potentials, and that there are about 700 South Korean people who are living and working in the city. Therefore, it is very necessary for his country to set up a representative diplomatic agency in the city in the near future.
He also vowed that he would act as a bridge in appealing for more businesses from his country to invest in the city.
