City leader receives new Russian Consul General and Laos Consul General

On Monday, the new Russian Consul General in the city, Mr Brovarets Andrey Petrevich, paid a courtesy visit to the Da Nang Party Committee Secretary, Mr Tran Tho, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Viet Nam’s August Revolution (19 August) and its National Day (2 September).

The Russian diplomat expressed his honour and pleasure to be working in the city, and vowed that he would make every effort to boost bilateral cooperative ties with Da Nang, and with Viet Nam as a whole. 

He remarked that his country’s total import-export turnover with Viet Nam is likely to increase 4-fold over the next 5 years.  He also hoped that bilateral cooperation between Da Nang and Russia's Far East will be fostered in the near future.

Mr Petrevich suggested that the city authorities should fully tap the great advantages and potential of the Tien Sa Port and reopen the Da Nang-Russia container shipping route.  He also hoped that Da Nang and Russia would exploit their great potentials and strengths to promote bilateral cooperation.

Consul General Petrevich later visited leaders of the municipal People’s Council and the National Assembly members' group.

On the same day, the Laos Consul General in Da Nang, Mr Phommaseng Khamsene, also met with Secretary Tho and affirmed that Viet Nam has had numerous remarkable achievements during its struggle for independence, freedom and national reunification over the past 70 years. 

He took the opportunity to thank the Vietnamese people for their valuable assistance to Laos during its own past struggle for national protection and the ongoing nation-building process.  He also expressed his admiration of the city leaders for implementing new and dynamic guidelines and policies to promote the city’s progress to new higher levels over recent years.
