On Tuesday, the Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, played host to the Chairman of the International Skateboarding Federation (ISF) and Chief Executive Officer of the World Skateboarding Grand Prix in the USA, Mr Tim McFerran.

The visitor introduced Vice Chairman Viet to the Skateboarding World Championships which have been successfully organised in many countries worldwide and attracted much attention from young people.  He expressed his pleasure that Da Nang will host the first-ever Viet Nam Skateboarding Championships in 2016, and remarked that this will provide a good opportunity for the city to advertise its image to international friends.

He expressed his belief that, thanks to Da Nang’s beautiful beaches and its favourable geographic position, the large-scale sporting event will be held successfully in the city and it will draw a great deal of attention from visitors from both home and abroad.  He noted that a public bathing area in Ngu Hanh Son District has been chosen as the venue for the event.

In reply, Vice Chairman Viet vowed that the local authorities will effectively cooperate with ISF to make the event a success and they will appeal for more donations from domestic and foreign individuals and organisations for the event.
