He also revealed Da Nang’s strategy to develop a blue economy based on building an environmentally-friendly city. In particular, the city will strive to meet the international environmental quality standards for water, land and air by 2020. In addition, it will be capable of preventing environmental pollution and degradation, as well as dealing with unexpected environmental incidents.
In attempting to build Da Nang into an environmentally-friendly city by 2020, the focus has been on raising public awareness of environmental protection and enhancing the role of State management in local environmental protection and urban management. Importance is also being attached to building mechanisms and policies on the city’s environmental industry, developing plans for local environmental services, producing green products, and restoring the local environment. Heed is being paid to developing clean energy resources and promoting technological research, applications and transfer.
Mr Tuan also stressed the need for local residents to join efforts with the city authorities to effectively implement the city’s international commitments to promote its socio-economic development.
