On Monday morning, as part of their ongoing working visit to Japan, a group of Da Nang’s leaders, led by the municipal People's Committee Chairman, Mr Huynh Duc Tho, met with representatives from the Viet Nam Economic Research Institute (VERI) in Japan and those from the Da Nang Representative Office in Japan.

Chairman Duc Tho spoke highly of the great efforts made by VERI in appealing for investment from Japan into his city over the past 11 years.  He suggested that more detailed and effective cooperation programmes between VERI and Da Nang should be developed in order to further boost this fruitful bilateral cooperation in the years ahead.

VERI’s Director, Mr Kubota Teruyoshi, highlighted the great efforts made by his organisation in promoting bilateral relations between Da Nang and some Japanese localities and businesses over past years.  He remarked that VERI is working closely with the Da Nang authorities and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan to organise a seminar to promote Japanese investment into Da Nang.  The event, which will take place in Japan on 12 November, is expected to see the participation of over 120 Japanese businesses.

In the afternoon of the same day, the visiting guests met with some Japanese businesses specialising in the hi-tech, real estate, and tourism sectors into which the Da Nang authorities are appealing for investment.  They also paid a visit to Tokyo Keiki Inc which is now investing in a 40 million USD electro-magnetic switch valve manufacturing plant in the Da Nang Hi-tech Park.

During his meeting with the Da Nang delegation, the Chairman of the Route Inn Group, Mr Nagayama Katsutoshi, said that his group is planning to open a total of 10 hotels in Viet Nam by 2020.  He also revealed that 6 managers from his group have already been sent to Viet Nam to discuss the construction of these hotels.

Chairman Duc Tho highly praised the Japanese investment projects which are very suitable for the remarkable development of his city’s tourism sector.

The city leader said that the Da Nang-Narita direct flights, which were successfully opened in July last year, have helped his city attract more visitors from Japan.  He suggested that Da Nang-Osaka direct flights should be opened as soon as possible in order to meet the travel demands from residents of the 2 localities.
