City's key tasks for 2016 identified
At the 2nd Open Meeting of the Da Nang Party Committee (PC), municipal PC Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri reported that the city’s economy was maintaining stable growth in many aspects. It is expected that, by the end of this year, the local average annual GDP will have increased by 9.8% against 2014, and the city’s total tax revenue is likely to have exceeded the year’s target by nearly 12%.
In addition, the implementation of the city’s ‘Year for Culture and Urban Civilisation’ programme has been showing many positive results in ensuring social security, traffic safety and environmental hygiene. The implementation of the local ‘Poverty Reduction over the 2013 - 2017 Period’ programme has already been completed during this year, 2 years ahead of schedule.

Over 3,100 new businesses have been established in Da Nang, whilst the city has seen fewer dissolved and bankrupted companies than in 2014.
In his closing speech at the meeting, the municipal PC Secretary, Mr Nguyen Xuan Anh, highlighted the city's key tasks for the year ahead.
The focus will be on effectively implementing local social welfare policies, protecting the environment, and improving the living conditions of local residents. Greater efforts will be made to build Da Nang into a peaceful and safe city.
More effective measures will be taken to increase the city’s tax revenue and prevent revenue loss, especially from the local tourism sector. Special attention will be paid to reducing wasteful public spending and the number of business trips taken abroad, as well as dealing with the serious environmental pollution problems at the Khanh Son Waste Dump in Lien Chieu District.
