On Sunday, a group of government officials, led by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, visited the Viet Nam Christian Mission in Da Nang in recognition of the upcoming Christmas festival.

Deputy Prime Minister Phuc highly praised the Viet Nam Christian Mission for its great efforts in promoting the socio-economic development of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.  He remarked that the Party and Government of Viet Nam always respect people’s rights to freedom of religion and belief, and ensure that all religions observe the law.

The national leader took the opportunity to wish the Mission’s staff and local Christian dignitaries and followers a happy and peaceful Christmas.  He said he hoped that they would continue their joint efforts with all local residents to further the city’s progress and ensure a good secular and religious life.

In reply, the Head of the Viet Nam Christian Mission, Pastor An Uoc, promised that he and local Christian dignitaries would do their utmost to encourage their followers to implement the legal rights and obligations of citizens, as well as to make every effort to develop Da Nang into a more prosperous and modern city.

The visitors also paid a visit to Mr Nguyen Tuong Phong in Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Bac Ward.  He is a deacon at the city’s Christian Church and lives in very difficult circumstances.
