Speaking on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the 15th session of the Da Nang People’s Council (PC) in its 8th tenure for the 2011 - 2016 term, municipal PC Chairman Tran Tho said that although the city has fulfilled 100% of this year’s socio-economic development targets, it still faces many difficulties and challenges.

He therefore asked PC members to discuss together and identify more effective and suitable solutions to promote the city’s growth and successfully fulfil next year's socio-economic targets.

At the event, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Dang Viet Dung, reported that the city’s economic growth in 2015 has increased by nearly 9.8% against 2014.  The city’s total tax revenue has exceeded the year’s target, and its economic structure has been moving in the right direction.  Many of the city’s key construction projects have been completed on schedule, bringing benefits to local residents.

Vice Chairman Dung added that the implementation of the local programme for upgrading rural areas has also been completed on schedule, whilst the implementation of the city’s ‘Year for Culture and Urban Civilisation’ programme has shown many positive results.

He said that Da Nang has seen many remarkable achievements in administrative reforms.  The city had, for the second consecutive year, been ranked top of 63 cities and provinces nationwide in the Provincial Public Administration Reform Index (PAR INDEX 2014)

Local Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh suggested that local relevant agencies should increase checks and tighten their supervision of local accommodation establishments.  Any restaurant or hotel found to be unreasonably increasing the prices of their services will be named and shamed in the mass media.  Greater efforts will be made to deal with the harassment and overcharging of tourists in order to build Da Nang into an attractive and safe destination for both domestic and foreign visitors.

This morning, the PC members continued discussing the city’s main issues, and then this afternoon answered local voters' questions about urgent matters.
