World Bank actively supports local sustainable projects
On Tuesday, the Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, and some representatives from the World Bank (WB) reviewed the deployment of the city’s research projects into sustainable urban energy.
They discussed the implementation of projects relating to Da Nang’s LED lighting system, the Bus Rapid Transit system, and solar systems for use in commercial and industrial activities.

The WB’s Senior Energy Specialist, Mr Ranjan Bose, said that numerous foreign investors are now showing a keen interest in investing in Da Nang because the city is the most dynamic in the central region.
Mr Bose revealed that the WB helped Da Nang introduce its sustainable urban energy projects to South Korea several months ago. As a result, the South Korean government has said that it is willing to help the city deploy sludge and garbage treatment projects at the Khanh Son Waste Dump in Lien Chieu District.
The visiting guest said that, in addition to South Korea, the WB has also introduced many of the city’s projects to various international organisations in many other countries to appeal for more investment into the local projects.
Vice Chairman Viet applauded the WB for its great efforts in appealing to worldwide sponsors for financial assistance for the city’s projects, and he pledged that his city is committed to effectively implementing these projects.
The city leader took the opportunity to ask the WB to give more assistance to the city’s solar projects to boost the development of this aspect in the near future.
