City leader receives new Australian Consul General
On Tuesday, the Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, hosted a reception for the new Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms Karen Lanyon.
Vice Chairman Tuan said “Da Nang has been exerting every effort to attract and train high-quality human resources for its development needs. Over recent years, Australia has been one of the countries with close educational and training ties to the city”.

The host congratulated Ms Lanyon on her new position, and expressed his belief that she would do her utmost to lift the bilateral cooperative relationships with Da Nang to new heights in the near future. He also hoped that many practical projects and programmes between Da Nang and Australia would be implemented effectively in the years ahead.
In reply, the Australian diplomat underlined the importance of boosting the bilateral economic and trading ties with Viet Nam in the future. She added “During my working visit to this seaside city, I have visited many educational institutes, hospitals, and organisations which have implemented bilateral cooperative programmes and projects with Australia. I have had the opportunity to meet with fellow countrywoman, skipper Wendy Tuck from the Da Nang-Viet Nam team in the Clipper Race. This is evidence of the close and durable bilateral relationship with Da Nang, as well as with Viet Nam as a whole”.
