City leader hosts UNICEF representatives
On Tuesday, the Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, played host to some representatives from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Viet Nam and the UNICEF National Committee in South Korea, led by the UNICEF Representative in Viet Nam, Mr Youssouf Abdel-Jelil.
Vice Chairman Tuan said that the city now has around 2,000 disabled children, and most of them are studying at special schools for disabled children with improved facilities and skilled and intensively-trained teachers.

The city leader highly praised the efficiency of the social welfare projects which have been implemented by the 2 organisations in many Vietnamese localities, including Da Nang.
Mr Abdel-Jelil expressed his delight at the long-standing good relationship between UNICEF Viet Nam and the city authorities over recent years. He also announced that UNICEF Viet Nam and the UNICEF National Committee in South Korea will jointly implement a project for helping local disabled children to confidently integrate into the community, with a focus on teaching them music in order to promote their comprehensive development.
He added that UNICEF Viet Nam is willing to bolster bilateral cooperation with the city in developing comprehensive training models for local children, including those with disabilities.
