On Monday a group of Da Nang’s leaders, led by municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, offered incense at the Laos Consulate General in Da Nang to pay tribute to the late former Chairman of the Laotian National Assembly (NA) Xaman Vinhaket, who passed away on 22 July.

Mr Vinhaket was a former Politburo member and former Head of the Steering Committee for Ideology, Theory and Culture of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee.

In his note in the condolences book, Deputy Secretary Tri expressed his deepest sympathy to the leaders and people of Laos, and to Mr Vinhaket’s family.  He remarked that he had been an excellent Laotian high-ranking leader, and said that his passing was a huge loss to his country.  He also expressed his hope that the Party, State, and people of Laos, as well as his family members, would be able to overcome their emotional trauma and continue with their great efforts to make Laos more prosperous in the future.

Also on the same day, representatives from local organisations which have established bilateral relationships with Laos visited and laid wreaths at the Laos Consulate General in Da Nang in memory of the late former Laotian leader.
