Luu Binh Nhuong, a deputy from the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre, said he was impressed by the PM’s speech as it demonstrates the Government’s resolve to effectuate the Party’s policies.

Such issues raised by the Government leader as training talent and handling environmental pollution are the most pressing and important to national socio-economic development, he said, adding that if Viet Nam cannot overcome the challenges, the country will make no headway.

Ngo Sach Thuc, a representative from Bac Giang Province, said the PM focused on the Government’s tasks in the next five years.

The Government should take more drastic actions, turn words into actions and heed institutional completion in order to build a rule-of-law State, the deputy suggested.

Applauding the actions the Government has already taken over the past three months since it was elected by the 13 th NA last April, lawmaker Nguyen Duc Kien from Soc Trang Province reviewed the Government’s performance in resolving marine pollution caused by Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Co. Ltd and the drought in the southwestern region, which was considered the most severe in the past decade.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the new Government have initially built trust and met the expectations of the people thanks to their strong commitments and actions towards multiple economic matters, especially those regarding business climate and competitiveness.

Kien stressed that the PM’s meetings with labourers is a new step taken by the new Government.

Echoing Kien’s views, Le Thi Thuy, a representative from the northern province of Hai Duong, said the PM and the Government have kept a close watch on all matters and expressed her hope that the PM and the Government together will outstandingly translate the action plan set for the next 5 years.

The Government is likely to meet the aspirations of voters and people nationwide, the deputy said.

On July 26, 485 deputies, or 98.18% of total lawmakers, voted for Nguyen Xuan Phuc as Prime Minister for the 2016-2021 tenure at the 14th NA’s first session.

In his swearing-in ceremony, the newly elected PM clarified his great responsibility assigned by the Party, NA, voters and people nationwide, affirming that he will make every effort to serve the nation and people.
