The ship’s captain and crew will pay courtesy visits to senior officials from the High Command of the Viet Nam Coast Guard, the municipal People’s Committee and the High Command of the Marine Police Region II.

They will also visit the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre Region II.

The Viet Nam Marine Police and the Japan Coast Guard are both members of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP). They have been closely coordinating in improving marine law enforcement capacity.

The visit of KOJIMA provides a good opportunity for the two forces to exchange experience and strengthen their cooperation and mutual understanding.

The 115-metre-long, 14-metre-wide KOJIMA is captained by Col Hiroyuki Nanaura.

This is the fourth Viet Nam visit made by the Japan Coast Guard and the second by the ship.
