On Wednesday, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh played host to his counterpart, Mr Santiphab Phomvihane, the Party Committee Secretary and Governor of Savannakhet Province in Laos.

Secretary Anh remarked that the visit would help to deepen the bilateral friendship and special solidarity between Da Nang and the southern provinces of Laos.

The city leader proudly said, “Over recent years, my city has given top priority to promoting bilateral cooperation in education and infrastructure with southern Laotian localities.  In particular, the focus has been on granting scholarships to over 500 Laotian students studying in the city.  Over the period, many groups of high-ranking officials from Laos have also visited the city”.

Mr Anh affirmed, “Da Nang will continue to promote the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding which has been signed with Savannakhet Province over the 2013 - 2017 period. 

Furthermore, the city will further bolster the bilateral cooperative relationships with the Laotian province in order to bring more benefits to citizens in the 2 localities, and the 2 countries as a whole”.

Secretary and Governor Phomvihane spoke highly of the strong support given by Da Nang to his province over recent years.  The Laotian guest hoped that the 2 localities would further promote bilateral cooperation, with a focus on taking advantage of being Pacific gateways for the East-West Economic Corridor for mutual development.
