PM Sisoulith joined talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Ha Noi on Tuesday, as part of his trip to Viet Nam to attend the 8th Cambodia- Laos- Myanmar- Viet Nam (CLMV) Summit, 7th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), and the World Economic Forum on the Mekong Region (WEF- Mekong), the Viet Nam News Agency reported.

The visiting premier said the Lao government had agreed with Viet Nam’s proposal to build a highway connecting to two nations’ capital cities.

He also requested Viet Nam to provide Laos with the effective access to the Vung An Seaport in Ha Tinh Province.

Viet Nam’s investment was on the rise in Laos and has considerably contributed to local socio-economic development, the Laotian premier noted, underling that Viet Nam currently ranks third among foreign investors in his home country.

PM Phuc asked the Lao government to help remove the difficulty faced by Vietnamese investors.

As part of his visit, PM Sisoulith also met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong and State President Tran Dai Quang on the same day, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
