The meeting was part of Chairman Zhang’s ongoing official friendly visit to Viet Nam between 8 and 11 November at the invitation of Mrs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, a Politburo member and Chairwoman of the Viet Nam National Assembly.  He is being accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking Chinese Party and State officials.

Secretary Anh remarked that the visit to Da Nang by Chairman Zhang plays an important role in bolstering the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Viet Nam and China.

The host happily said, “Over recent years, there has been an upward trend in the total export-import turnovers between Da Nang and China which, over the first half of this year, have hit 9 million USD and 80 million USD respectively.   There are currently 19 local businesses involved in importing and exporting with China.  As of July this year, the city is home to 10 Chinese-invested projects, with a total registered investment capital of over 3.88 million USD.”

He continued, “The number of Chinese visitors to the city is higher than from any other country.  In 2015 the number of such visitors hit 304,044, whilst the figure in the first half of this year was 211,079”.

The city leader also affirmed that, in the years ahead, Da Nang wants to bolster the mutually beneficial cooperation with many Chinese localities in such aspects as tourism, hi-tech industries, and building ‘smart cities’.   He also pledged that Da Nang would make joint efforts with other Vietnamese and Chinese localities to effectively implement the 2 countries’ joint guidelines concerning strengthening their bilateral cooperative ties.

In a similar vein, Secretary Quang from Quang Nam Province hoped that his locality would establish cooperative ties with Chinese partners in such aspects as the economy, trade, investment, tourism, and projects preserving and promoting the values of cultural heritage.

In reply, Chairman Zhang expressed his delight at his successful visit to Viet Nam, and that his meetings with the leaders of the Party and State of Viet Nam had taken place in a very friendly atmosphere.

He also remarked that the Chinese Party and government always attach importance to developing fine bilateral relationships with Viet Nam.  Special attention will be paid to joining efforts with Viet Nam to effectively live up to the motto of ‘friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and looking towards the future’ and the spirit of ‘good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, and good partners’.  This will help to boost the bilateral relationship in a comprehensive manner.
