He was addressing nearly 2,000 lecturers, officials and students of the Lao National University in Vientiane on November 25, as part of his on-going official visit to Laos.

The Party leader underscored that Viet Nam will do its utmost to keep the sacred relationship evergreen and everlastingly stable.

Looking through history of traditional ties between the two Parties and States, he said that Viet Nam and Laos always see each other as a faithful comrade and friend, walking hands in hands together and give each other whole-hearted material and spiritual support through the most difficult periods.

During the past 30 years of renewal, the two countries have fully inherited and promoted the sound relationship founded by late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kaysone Phomvihane and nurtured by generations of leaders of both countries.

Important achievements in the bilateral ties have contributed to the construction and maintenance of the peaceful regional and international environment, creating favourable conditions for the renovation and socio-economic development and national development and defence in each country, enhancing the position of both Viet Nam and Laos in the regional and world arena, he said.

As the current regional and global situations generated challenges and opportunities to the respective countries’ construction and defence, Viet Nam and Laos have still gained important achievements in various fields, proving the right development path that their Parties have chosen, noted the Party leader.

He urged youngsters of both nations to work hard to improve their knowledge and morality, becoming a high quality workforce that play a driving role for the success of the industrialisation and modernisation in each country as well as the stronger Viet Nam-Laos special ties in the new period.

Leaders put strong trust on the youth, he affirmed, expressing his hope that the youngsters will increase exchange, while maintaining and promoting the priceless treasure of the faithful and pure ties between Viet Nam and Laos.

Founded in 1996, the National University of Laos is the only national university of the Southeast Asian country. It has provided courses in 11 majors, including economics and business administration, architecture, engineering, agriculture and education.

On the occasion, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong presented 30 sets of computers to the university.
