He made the statement on November 29 in reply to a reporter’s query on Viet Nam’s reaction to the Taiwanese side organising a drill at sea in the Ba Binh area in Viet Nam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
“Viet Nam has full historical evidence and legal grounds to prove its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa archipelagoes,” Binh said.
Taiwan’s organisation of the drill in Ba Binh area in Viet Nam’s Truong Sa archipelago is a serious violation of Viet Nam’s territorial sovereignty over the archipelago, threatening peace, stability, security, navigation safety, sparking tensions, and complicating the situation in the East Sea, the spokesperson added.
“Viet Nam resolutely protests and demands Taiwan not to repeat similar activities,” Binh concluded.
