During his meeting on Tuesday with the Brunei Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr Pengiran Sahari Pengiran Salleh, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho introduced Da Nang’s great potential and strengths to his guest.

Chairman Tho remarked, “Over recent years, Da Nang has focussed on developing its high-quality human resources, tourism services and trading activities.  Special attention has been paid to seeking domestic and foreign investment into such aspects as hi-tech, information technology (IT), the environment, and urban infrastructure.  The city has been effectively implementing many practical programmes like '5 No's, 3 Yes's' and 'City of 4 Safe’ in order to ensure social welfare and enhance the living standards of the local residents”.

The city leader, however, noted that the bilateral cooperative activities with Brunei were more modest than expected.  He said he would like the Brunei diplomat to do his utmost to foster the bilateral cooperative relationship with Da Nang in education, IT, investment and trade.  Importance should be attached to promoting the opening of new direct flights between Da Nang and Brunei in order to boost bilateral tourism and investment activities.

In reply, the Ambassador noted that Da Nang and some localities in Brunei shared similar strengths in seafood exporting, IT, and education and training.  He vowed to make every effort to advertise the landscapes and people of Da Nang to the citizens of Brunei in the future.
