Vice Chairman Tuan thanked WB for its financial assistance to help the city develop a synchronous transport infrastructure. This has helped Da Nang move more towards its target of becoming an environmentally-friendly and sustainable city.
Mr Tuan said, “Da Nang is planning to implement many development projects next year, including the railway station relocation, urban restructuring, and the construction of Lien Chieu Port. In addition, wastewater collection and treatment systems will be built in the seaside areas, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system will be developed, there will be a new tunnel under the Han River, and public bicycle rental services will be deployed on a trial basis”.
He, therefore, took the opportunity to ask whether WB would give more financial aid and technical consultancy services to the city to accelerate progress on these projects.
In reply, Ms Xiaoqing Yu praised the city’s remarkable achievements in implementing its sustainable development projects, especially in improving the local living environment through the effective treatment of wastewater in pollution hotspots. She affirmed that one of WB’s main goals is to help Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, to upgrade its transport infrastructure.
She remarked that, in addition to WB’s financial and technical assistance, it would give support to the city in other aspects. She noted that many WB specialists would be sent to Da Nang to give technical support for the city in the near future.
