The participants remarked that even more innovations should be made to enhance the quality of the newspaper’s printed and online editions to meet the diversified demands of the newspaper’s readers.

The Chairman of the city’s Union of Literature and Art Associations, Mr Bui Van Tieng, underlined the need for the newspaper to develop a new category in its Monday issues to brief its readers on the important events of the previous week.  This information would be very useful later on when the newspaper makes special publications to mark the city’s anniversaries.

Also at the meeting, many freelance reporters suggested that more stories about locals’ good deeds, plus the beauty of the land and the local residents, should be published by the newspaper in order to make the city more attractive to visitors from both home and abroad.

The Deputy Head of the Department of Publicity and Training, Mr Bui Xuan, spoke highly of the efforts made by the newspaper’s staff in recording the remarkable achievements of recent years, enhancing the professional skills of the reporters, and publicising many high-quality articles.  However, he urged the newspaper to continue its efforts to reach the newspaper’s goal of being available for sale at local newstands.

On behalf of the newspaper's editors, Editor-in-Chief Truong Cong Dinh extended his deep gratitude to the freelance reporters for all their significant efforts towards the newspaper’s progress over recent years.  He said, “Since the start of this year, the newspaper’s staff have made even greater efforts to promote innovations, in both form and content, to the newspaper's publications, and to publicise local issues of high concern in a timely fashion”.

Mr Dinh remarked that in 2017, all comments and suggestions from readers will be welcomed to help the newspaper diversify its content.  In addition, a focus will be on organising training courses for the freelance reporters to enhance their professional skills.

Also at the event, 5 outstanding freelance journalists were honoured in recognition of their remarkable achievements in 2016.

Thousands of articles and photos by freelance journalists are published by the DA NANG Newspaper each year.  This year, up to November, the newspaper’s printed and online editions have published 1,081 articles and 377 photo articles, 175 photos, , 50 posts about international events, 45 short stories, 154 poems, and 243 written articles reflecting events both at home and abroad.
