By the end of this year, Da Nang’s gross domestic product (GDP) is likely to have increased by 9.04% compared with last year, and the total value of local services is likely to hit 47,366 billion VND.  The local export turnover of goods is predicted to have increased by 9.6% against last year to reach 1.3 billion USD.  Most notably, the total of taxes collected in the city is likely to have surpassed the year’s target by 22.3% to stand at over 18,227 billion VND.

Also by late 2016, the number of tourist arrivals to the city is likely to have exceeded the year’s target by 7.2% to reach 5.51 million, up 17.7% against last year.  Job opportunities were forecast to have been created for 32,000 local residents.

Greater efforts were made to further promote such key local campaigns as the ‘5 No’s, 3 Yes’s’ and a project developing Da Nang into an environmentally-friendly city.  The environmental pollution problem at some hotspots was completely resolved, and food safety and hygiene was ensured.

With regard to next year’s key tasks, the city aims to ensure that the city’s GDP will increase by up to 10% compared with 2016, and the total State budget collection will reach 20,900 billion VND by the end of next year.

To realise these targets, the focus will be on promoting the development of local services and tourism over the 2016 – 2020 period, and creating the most favourable conditions for domestic and foreign investors to develop their key tourism projects in the city.

Furthermore, importance will be attached to promoting industrial production and construction activities, and maintaining sustainable development of the agro-forestry and aquaculture sectors.  Better solutions will be found to appeal for more domestic and FDI inflows into the city.

Also next year, special heed will be paid to guaranteeing security during public holidays and such large-scale international events as the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week and the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2017.

More surveillance cameras will be installed across the city in order to monitor and deal with both security and traffic violations.   The installation of the camera system is part of the city’s efforts to reduce the number of road traffic accidents, fatalities and injuries, and to crack down on social evils and criminals, especially those involved in drug-related crimes.

On Tuesday afternoon, the municipal PCl members were divided into different groups to discuss the reports outlined above.
