City leaders congratulate 168 senior citizens on their longevity

On Wednesday, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh and municipal People’s Committee (PC) Chairman Huynh Duc Tho attended a ceremony to congratulate the 168 members of the Thai Phien Club for Senior Citizens on their longevity.

The 2 leaders hoped that the senior citizens would live longer and witness positive changes in the socio-economic development of the city, and the country as a whole.

Secretary Anh briefed the senior citizens on the city’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and political security, along with the positive changes in urban order management, environmental protection, investment policies, and tourism.

Mr Anh remarked, “From now until the end of this year, the focus will be on ensuring the effective implementation of the ‘City of 4 Safe Programmes’, and the ‘5 No's, 3 Yes's’ campaigns.  Importance will also be attached to promoting the publicity of local emulation movements in order to uphold consensus amongst local Party members, government employees, and residents.  In addition, greater efforts will be made to ensure local security, traffic safety, food safety and hygiene, and social welfare programmes”.

Secretary Anh also expressed his deep appreciation for the great efforts made by the senior citizens during the struggle for national liberation and reunification, and the city’s progress.  He encouraged them to exert even more efforts to promote consensus amongst local residents from all walks of life.

On the same day, Secretary Anh visited the club’s Executive Board, presented Tet gifts, and extend Tet greetings to them.
