Secretary Anh highly applauded the visit of the Singaporean guests, which would open up many bilateral cooperative opportunities in 2017 and in the years after.

The city leader remarked, “Over the past 20 years, since Da Nang was recognised as a centrally-governed city on 1 January 1997, the city has recorded numerous significant achievements, and it has become the most dynamic city in the central region.  In the immediate future, the focus will be on developing the city into a trade and tourism centre of international stature, and building it into a green, clean and beautiful locality.  Importance will also be attached to attracting new investment inflows into the local IT and hi-tech industries, as well as boosting the development of these sectors”.

Secretary Anh hoped that Sembcorp Industries would soon boost bilateral investment cooperation with the city, and he pledged to create very favourable conditions for the group to operate effectively here.

Mr Tang Kin Fei expressed his impressions of the city's dynamic development over recent years.  He said that his group’s visit was to learn about the investment climate and business opportunities in Da Nang in order to deploy their keenly interested projects, and others in which the two sides boast great potential and strengths.

Sembcorp is a leading energy, water, marine and urban development group in Singapore.  In Viet Nam, the group has successfully developed a total of 7 industrial parks in Hai Phong City and the provinces of Binh Duong, Bac Ninh, Quang Ngai and Nghe An.  Together these parks have attracted over 800 businesses with a total investment capital of more than 8 billion USD, and have created jobs for over 155,000 employees.

Currently, Singapore is Da Nang’s largest foreign investor, with total investment capital of 726 million USD.  The projects focus on processing and manufacturing industries, IT and real estate.
