Municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh briefed Prime Minister Phuc on the city’s remarkable achievements recorded last year, and its key tasks for this year.
Prime Minister Phuc remarked that, in 2017 and the following years, the city should focus on making even more positive changes in such local aspects as tourism, hi-tech industry, and hi-tech and organic farming. In particular, the city should take advantage of the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Economic Leaders’ Week, which will be held in November, to appeal for more FDI inflows from big international groups worldwide.

The national government leaders underlined the need for the city to secure its position as the largest urban hub in the central region and highlands with strong economic growth, a modern infrastructure system and more civilised urban. Greater efforts should be made to develop Da Nang into a ‘green and smart’ city, and a miniature version of Singapore in Viet Nam in the near future. Furthermore, it was suggested that the city should feature a favourable business environment which is similar to that of Hong Kong. To realise these goals, the city’s authorities should make even more innovations in their management activities, and issue more effective policies to attract even more talents and the wealthy from both home and abroad.

Special attention should be paid to making domestic and foreign visitors feel secure during their stay in the city.
The national government leader also extended his Tet wishes to the authorities and residents of Hai Chau District. He hoped that the district's authorities and its residents would make even more remarkable changes in building an e-government system and a ‘smart’ urban area with high urban civilisation.
