Consul General Petrovich wished the municipal Party Committee, the city authorities, and all the local residents good health, happiness and prosperity in the year ahead.  He also congratulated Da Nang on its remarkable achievements last year, and hoped that the city would record even more success this year.

The Russian diplomat said he believed that the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) in November would be a good opportunity for the city, and other central localities, to appeal for more FDI inflows and promote bilateral, multi-faceted cooperation with other countries, including Russia.

In reply, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh proudly affirmed that the current bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Russia has been lifted to new heights and is based on strong friendship.  He said he would like Consul General Petrovich to do his utmost to bolster the bilateral cooperation between Da Nang and some Russian localities, especially in tourism and those other aspects in which Russia boasts great potential and strength.

Secretary Anh also remarked that the city authorities would work closely with the Consulate General of Russia to host receptions for Russia’s leaders during their stay in the city whilst attending APEC 2017.

On the same day, Laotian Consul General Phommaseng Khamsene and his wife extended Tet greetings to the municipal Party Committee.

Consul General Khamsene thanked the city authorities for their kind support for southern and central localities of Laos over recent years.  Most notably, a group of Da Nang leaders, led by Secretary Anh, paid a working visit to Laos in order to enter into bilateral cooperation programmes with these Laotian localities for the 2017 - 2022 period.

Secretary Anh pledged that his city would continue to promote bilateral cooperation with the Laotian localities for mutual development, and further deepen the special traditional friendship between the 2 countries in the years ahead.

Also on Tuesday, the Russian and Laotian Consuls General visited and extended their Tet wishes to the staff of the municipal People’s Council.

During his receptions for the Russian and Laotian diplomats, municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung said he hoped that the time-honoured bilateral friendships between Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, with their countries, would be bolstered in future years.

Vice Chairman Trung remarked that the close coordination between the Russian and Laotian Consulates General and the city leaders always lays a firm foundation for implementing bilateral agreements for mutual socio-economic progress, thereby deepening the bilateral friendly relationships with these foreign countries in a sustainable and effective manner.
