Secretary Anh highly praised SOS Children’s Villages International for its kind support for orphaned, abandoned, and poor children living in the Da Nang SOS Children’s Village, and others nationwide, over recent years.  He remarked that, under the city’s social welfare programmes, the local authorities always show their special concern for local disadvantaged children.

Secretary Anh said that he would like the 2 international organisations to continue assisting the city’s SOS Children’s Village in bringing up and educating disadvantaged children from Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.

In reply, Mr Kutin thanked the city leaders for their effective coordination with his organisations in promoting the operation of the city’s SOS Children’s Village over recent years.  He also believed that such bilateral cooperation would be further bolstered in the years ahead.

Da Nang is one of 17 Vietnamese localities to have been granted funding from SOS Children’s Villages International to build schools, kindergartens, student halls of residence, and facilities for practising vocational skills, as well as to implement programmes for bringing up and educating orphans in the community.  Over the past 25 years, this international charity has given 11.2 million USD in aid to the city’s SOS Children’s Village to bring up and educate a total of 850 orphaned children and dozens of thousands of pupils from Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.
