According to a report released by the PC’s Office, the material and spiritual lives of local residents during the Tet holiday were ensured.  The abundance of Tet goods met the increased demand from locals and visitors, and their prices remained stable.  Social welfare and social security were ensured.

Around 160 billion VND from the city’s budget was granted to local government employees as Tet bonuses.  The city’s Fatherland Front Committee raised an estimated 14.9 billion VND from generous individuals, organisations and businesses to help 23,000 local poor families to enjoy a happy Tet.

Speaking at the event, Secretary Anh spoke highly of the remarkable achievements, and affirmed that the dramatic increase in foreign tourist arrivals to the city proved the city's prestigious position in the world.

The city leader took the opportunity to ask local relevant agencies to make greater efforts to ensure the success of the APEC Economic Leaders' Week (AELW) in the city in November.

On the same day, Secretary Anh visited and extended his Tet wishes to leaders and staff of Sun Group and the Da Nang branch of the Heineken Vietnam Brewery.

During his meeting with the Sun Group leaders, Secretary Anh praised the group for their great efforts in promoting the city’s progress and creating job opportunities for local residents.  He remarked that many Sun Group-developed construction projects have helped to boost the city’s tourism sector and make Da Nang even more attractive to international visitors.

He noted that AELW will take place at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort with the participation of 21 APEC member nations.  Therefore, he highlighted the significance of the resort’s developer in ensuring the safety and success of the event.

On behalf of the city leaders, Secretary Anh highlighted the significant efforts of the Heineken company towards the city’s growth, and congratulated it on winning the trust of its customers.  He also pledged that the local authorities would create very favourable conditions for the company to boost its business activities.

On the same day, Deputy Secretary Tri checked the post-Tet operation of the Hai Van branch of the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV Hai Van), and the Da Nang Port company.  He was accompanied by municipal PC Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung, and Editor-in-Chief of the DA NANG Newspaper Truong Cong Dinh.

Deputy Secretary Tri highly appreciated BIDV Hai Van’s outstanding achievements during last year.  He hoped that the bank would do its utmost to fulfil its assigned tasks and become actively involved in the city’s progress, and its social welfare activities.

During his meeting with leaders of the Da Nang Port company, Mr Tri highlighted the company’s positive results during 2016.  In particular, the total volume of cargo transported through the port recorded 7.25 million tons, up 13% against 2015.  This figure included 320,000 TEUs on container ships, which is a 24% rise.  This positive result helped the port to re-affirm its position as the largest container port in the central region.

He revealed that during this year, the local authorities will issue more preferential policies to help local businesses overcome their difficulties.  He stressed, therefore, the need for the company to grasp this opportunity to increase the efficiency of its business activities and its employees' average monthly income, as well as make a significant contribution to the city budget.  Importance should be attached to investing in the project to turn Lien Chieu Port into a major cargo port, and building a corporate culture.
