According to the city’s Management Board of Industrial and Civil Engineering Construction and Investment Projects, the projects are progressing well.

The Da Nang International Exhibition Fair Centre is being temporarily converted into APEC 2017’s main press centre at a cost of nearly 178.2 billion VND.   The conversion is expected to be completed by 30 June.  In a similar vein, the Tien Son Sports Arena, where the event’s Gala Dinner will be held, is also being refurbished.  The 84.2 billion VND refurbishment work is scheduled to be completed by 31 May.

Relevant local agencies are also accelerating a project to refurbish 28 major routes in the city.  They include Hoang Sa-Vo Nguyen Giap-Truong Sa, Nguyen Van Linh-Vo Van Kiet, and Cach Mang Thang Tam-2 September-Bach Dang-Tran Phu-3 February streets.  In addition, the upgrade of pavements along such local streets as Le Dai Hanh, 40 April, Phan Dang Luu, Le Duc Tho, Tran Cao Van and Nguyen Huu Tho is underway.

Vice Chairman Tuan urged construction units to make every effort to ensure the on-schedule progress of all these projects.

He remarked that APEC 2017’s main press centre must be fully equipped with a modern electrical system, an Internet network with high bandwidth capacity, and other types of equipment, thereby creating a highly professional working environment for journalists from domestic and international media agencies.  He also underlined the need to ensure the aesthetics and long-lasting endurance of the work.

Vice Chairman Tuan affirmed that 1,200 representatives from the world’s largest economic groups, with accompanying heads of state, will attend APEC 2017’s Gala Dinner at the Tien Son Sports Arena.  Hence, the refurbishment of the venue should give special attention to installing more modern lighting, sound and drainage systems.  With regard to the refurbishment of the major routes, importance should be attached to installing aesthetic lighting systems.

The city leader also asked relevant local agencies to check on unsightly vacant land lots in the inner city and alongside the coastal routes.   He suggested that public parks should be temporarily constructed on vacant areas in the city centre, whilst outside the centre screening fences should be erected which are 6m away from the inner edge of the pavements.
