Mr Harish noted that Da Nang has been chosen as one of Viet Nam’s localities to host numerous cultural events to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Viet Nam-India diplomatic ties, and the 10th anniversary of the bilateral strategic partnership relationship.
He said, “My country and Da Nang share potential for cooperating in such aspects as tourism, education, cultural exchanges, information technology, and energy conservation. In the near future, India will send some teachers to the city to organise short-term English courses for local government employees involved in serving the forthcoming APEC Economic Leaders' Week 2017 (AELW).”
He also affirmed that he would do his utmost to introduce the city’s investment environment and policies to Indian businesses in order to encourage more investors from his country to the city. This will help to deepen the bilateral cooperative relationship with Da Nang in the years ahead.
In reply, Chairman Tho expressed his delight at the fruitful results from the numerous bilateral cooperative programmes. Included are the establishment of the Viet Nam-India English Training Centre in the city, the Champa culture research, and the receptions for Indian navy ships.
In 2016 alone, the city’s exports to India reached 1 million USD, and its imports hit 65 million USD. The city attracted 3 Indian-funded FDI projects totalling 13.6 million USD.
The host asked the Indian ambassador to continue his efforts to promote the opening of direct flights between Da Nang and some Indian localities.
