Cooperating with Dutch company to improve coastal protection
As part of their working visit to Europe, a group of Da Nang’s leaders, led by municipal Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Anh, recently met with representatives from Royal HaskoningDHV which is headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This is an independent, international engineering and project management consultancy with over 135 years of experience.

The company’s leaders proudly briefed their Da Nang guests on its remarkable performance during its development history. Royal HaskoningDHV, the oldest engineering firm in the Netherlands, mainly specialises in offering project consultancy services, conducting feasibility studies, and making designs for seaport, airport, transportation, irrigation, industrial construction, and civil engineering projects. The company now has 6,000 staff, working from permanent offices in more than 30 countries on projects in 150 countries worldwide, who are committed to their promise to enhance society together. In Viet Nam, the company has participated in many seaport development and coastal management consultancy projects in several localities since 1986.
In reply, Secretary Anh gave high praise to the Dutch company’s great potential and strengths in deploying seaport and embankment projects in Viet Nam. He asked the Royal HaskoningDHV to provide its consultancy services to Da Nang in a bid to deploy the soon-to-be-built Lien Chieu Port.
With regard to coastal protection work, Secretary Anh hoped that the Dutch company and Da Nang’s relevant agencies would jointly offer suggestions to the city’s leaders about long-term solutions which will further coastal protection and mitigate the negative impacts of climate change and rapid urbanisation on the city’s coastal areas.
In particular, he discussed with Royal HaskoningDHV effective ways to access financial aid from the Dutch government and financial institutions in the Netherlands, and in the whole of Europe.
Soon after their reception, representatives from the Dutch company took the Da Nang delegation to Maasvlakte which is part of Europoort, a harbour and industrial area near Rotterdam, and to the Port of Rotterdam which is the world’s third largest and Europe’s largest port.
