He looked at the reception hall for head delegates, the main conference hall, the venue for the APEC Business Advisory Council dialogue and the CEO Summit, the new international passenger terminal at the Da Nang International Airport and the International Press Centre.

At a working session the same day with representatives of the National Committee for APEC 2017, the President noted that hosting the APEC Year 2017 is a focus of the country’s external affairs, demonstrating the Party and State’s policy of more active international integration.

It will be an opportunity for Viet Nam to promote multilateral diplomacy and deepen bilateral relationships with its leading partners in the region and the world as a whole, while giving Vietnamese localities and businesses a chance to introduce their potential and seek partners, he stated.

The leader spoke highly of efforts made by the National Committee for APEC 2017, the National Secretariat on APEC 2017, and Da Nang’s authorities to prepare for the event, while asking for more efforts to speed up the construction work to complete infrastructure projects as soon as possible, especially the city’s airport.

He requested the ministries of Defence and Public Security to jointly map out specific plans to ensure security during AELW.

The President also stressed the need to boost communications in a bid to help the general public gain insights into the importance of the APEC Year 2017 so that they can become more involved in promoting the image of Viet Nam to international friends.
