Viet Nam resolutely protests against China’s recent moves in Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago which violate Viet Nam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and complicate the situation in the East Sea.

Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang made the statement on 29 April in response to the media’s questions regarding China’s organisation of the 5th Sinan yacht race in Viet Nam’s Hoang Sa Archipelago and the establishment of an office of the Hainan entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau in Phu Lam Island in Hoang Sa.
Viet Nam has sufficient legal ground and historical evidence to prove its sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes.
“Viet Nam demands that China not make similar moves,” she said.
