Vice Chairman Minh briefed his guest on the positive results from the bilateral cooperation programmes with Beihai City over recent years in trade, tourism, investment and education. He added that Da Nang has also established relationships and cooperative ties with other Chinese localities including Shandong, Jiangsu, Macao Special Administrative Region, Kunming and Fangchenggang.
Currently, there are a total of around 82 flights per week between Da Nang and China. Most notably, the number of Chinese visitors to the city is always higher than from any other country, and the total was 440,179 last year.
As of March this year, the city had attracted 12 Chinese-invested projects with a total registered investment capital of over 6.22 million USD, and these are involved in such aspects as restaurants, consultancy services on importing electronics, and the manufacture of silicon products.
The city leader said he hoped that the visit made by his Chinese guest would further the bilateral friendship and cooperation between the 2 localities in tourism and cultural exchanges, and promote the opening of new direct flights between them in future years.
The Chinese deputy mayor remarked that his city and Da Nang are both seaside cities, and they share many similarities in their plans for developing marine tourism and the fisheries sector. Therefore, it was suggested that the 2 localities should enhance their bilateral cooperation programmes in cultural exchange, tourism, fisheries and marine ecosystem conservation. In particular, a focus should be on advertising the images of the 2 localities in a bid to attract more visitors to each other in the years ahead.
