Vice Chairman Tuan said he would like US diplomatic offices to work closely with Da Nang’s relevant agencies to ensure the success of the upcoming event, as well as to appeal for more US businesses to invest in the city.

He added, “Currently, 43 US businesses are now operating in Da Nang, with a total investment of over 500 million USD, and the city’s exports to the USA hit around 250 million USD last year.  The US government is cooperating well with Da Nang to implement the project to remove dioxin contamination at Da Nang International Airport.  In addition, various exchange activities between US and Vietnamese naval forces have helped to tighten the bilateral understanding and cooperation between the 2 countries.”

In reply, US diplomat Liston remarked that Da Nang has been chosen to host AELW 2017 due to its improved infrastructure and professional human resources.  The US government is willing to cooperate with Da Nang to help organise a successful AELW 2017.

On the same day, municipal PC Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh played host to a group of visitors from the Korea-Viet Nam Friendship Association (KOVEA), led by its Chairman Kim Hyeon Uk.

Vice Chairman Minh said, “In the years ahead, Da Nang will focus on promoting the development of tourism, finance, banking, education, hi-tech and environmentally-friendly industries, and start-up activities.  Special attention will be paid to establishing bilateral cooperative relationships with foreign countries, as well as enhancing its investment environment to attract more foreign investors, including those from South Korea”.

Chairman Kim expressed his impression of the city’s dynamic development over recent years.  He noted that greater efforts will be made to boost the bilateral friendship and exchange relations with Da Nang in such aspects as the economy, culture and education.
