During his reception on Monday for the Spanish Ambassador-Designate to Viet Nam, Mrs Maria Jesus Figa, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho congratulated her on being appointed to be Spanish Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam in the near future.  He also took the opportunity to extend his congratulations to Mr Jose Sanchez Barroso Gonzalez who has recently been appointed as the Spanish Deputy Consul General in Da Nang.

The city leader remarked, “Da Nang is focusing on furthering the development of trade, tourism, hi-tech industries, information technology, education and training, healthcare and environmental resource protection.  Therefore, my city is keen to expand bilateral cooperative relations with Spain in its strengths such as holiday tourism, entertainment technology, sport, finance, banking, high-quality human resources and Spanish language training.”

In reply, Mrs Figa noted that Spain’s tourism sector has been rapidly developed ever since the early 1960s, so her country is willing to share its experiences with Da Nang.

She asked the Da Nang authorities to assist Spain in organising some cultural and sporting events in Da Nang this year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Viet Nam-Spain diplomatic ties.
