At a recent meeting to review the working visit, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hoang, the Political Commissar of the city’s Military Command cum Deputy Head of the delegation, remarked that such localities as Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi and Hai Phong, the national banking sector and other organisations have constructed multi-purpose cultural houses on some parts of the Truong Sa islands.  The cost of each house ranged between 40 and 50 billion VND.

On behalf of the delegation, Colonel Hoang suggested that the municipal authorities should approve the construction of such a cultural house on an island for use by officers and men who are on duty there.  Also, the house will be used as a place for fishermen to rest and relax during their offshore trips to the Truong Sa waters, and it will be a safe shelter from storms.

Fully concurring with Colonel Hoang, Deputy Secretary Tri said that the delegation’s leaders will ask permission from the municipal PaC’s Standing Board to establish a steering board to appeal for public donations for the construction of a 40 billion VND cultural house.

Deputy Secretary Tri also noted that the board will strive to ensure that at least half of the total cost of the house will be donated by donors from both home and abroad, whilst the remainder will be funded from the city budget.

Also at the meeting, 14 participants of the delegation were honoured and rewarded for their active involvement in ensuring the success of the visit to the archipelago.
