Addressing the opening ceremony, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh said bilateral relations between Viet Nam and China, as well as between Da Nang and Chinese localities in particular, are thriving.
Da Nang has established the friendship and cooperation with 4 Chinese localities, he said, noting that investment and trade links between Da Nang and Chinese organisations and businesses have developed as the Vietnamese city has to date attracted a total of 12 Chinese-invested projects.
Currently, there are 17 air routes in total connecting major cities and provinces of China with Da Nang. China is always among countries and territories having the largest number of visitors to the city.
The Consulate General is expected to promote bilateral cooperation in economy, culture and science, and expand the bilateral ties between Da Nang and its surrounding cities and provinces, and Chinese localities and their partners in a more pragmatic and effective manner, contributing to enhancing Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
The Da Nang authorities will create the best conditions for the Consulate General to operate effectively, in line with international practices and relevant laws, as well as the traditional relationship between the two countries, Mr Minh said.
Chinese Consul General to Da Nang Xi Hui affirmed that the Consulate General will closely coordinate with competent Vietnamese agencies to promote exchange and cooperation between cities and provinces under its charge and Chinese localities, helping to consolidate the neighbourliness, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the 2 countries.
