The National Assembly ratified the appointment of Mr Nguyen Van The to the post of Minister of Transport and Mr Le Minh Khai to the post of National Government Inspectorate General at its 4^th session on 26 October.

Up to 93.98% or 461 NA deputies said yes to the appointment of Mr Nguyen Van The, while 94.5% or 464 legislators backed the appointment of Mr Le Minh Khai.

With almost all ‘yes’ votes, the legislature approved a Resolution ratifying the Prime Minister’s proposal on the appointments.

Congratulating the two new national government members, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed her hope that they will strive to fulfil their assigned tasks in their new positions.

A day earlier, the legislature relieved Mr Truong Quang Nghia of the post of Transport Minister and Mr Phan Van Sau of the post of Government Inspector General, also using secret ballot, in moves to reshuffle national government personnel.

Mr Nghia is now Da Nang Party Committee Secretary, while Mr Sau performs Mr The’s former role as Soc Trang provincial Party Committee Secretary.

On the afternoon of 26 October, lawmakers discussed in group a bill on amendments and supplements to the Law on Overseas Representative Missions of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
