2017 APEC Economic Leaders' Week opens with CSOM

The opening ceremony of the 2-day Concluding Senior Officials´ Meeting (CSOM) took place at the Furama Resort’s Grand Ballroom in Da Nang on Monday.

CSOM is one of the first events within the framework of the ongoing 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Week (AELW) hosted by the city.

CSOM is taking place on Monday and Tuesday, chaired by Mr Bui Thanh Son, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, cum Chairman of the APEC 2017 Senior Officials’ Meeting.

CSOM is focusing on 2 key objectives: reviewing the progress made in realising APEC’s vision for this year, finalising the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Declaration, and the APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM) Statement.

Under Viet Nam’s year-long hosting of APEC meetings, 3 Senior Officials´ Meetings (SOMs) have been organised successfully.

In detail, SOM1 was held in Khanh Hoa in February whilst SOM2 took place in Ha Noi in May, and SOM3 in Ho Chi Minh City in September.

Deputy Minister Son is scheduled to announce the official results of the CSOM at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon at the International Media Center in Da Nang.

AELW will culminate with the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on 11 November, to be chaired by State President Tran Dai Quang.
