On Wednesday, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho met with representatives from the UK’s Biwater International Limited to hear about this business’ proposal to implement a water environment improvement project in the city.

The around 200 million US$ project is expected to be deployed in coastal areas on the eastern side of the Son Tra Peninsula, and the Da Nang Bay.

Under the project, the focus will be on increasing the daily capacity of the Son Tra and Phu Loc wastewater treatment plants to 36,000m3 and 43,000m3 respectively.

In addition, the existing wastewater collection system will be upgraded, with an emphasis on installing larger-diamete sewage pipes and applying more advanced treatment technologies to ensure that the quality of treated wastewater meet the national standards for the sake of the city’s environment sanitation.

During his reception for his British guests, Chairman Tho remarked that, over recent years, the city authorities have appealed for investors from both home and aboard to develop their sustainable and effective water environment improvement projects in the locality.

The host re-affirmed the city authorities’ great support for such meaningful projects.  He, however, underlined the importance of Biwater’s carefully choosing the most effective financial option for the project.
