Tet gifts for Truong Sa officers, servicemen and residents
A total of 4 Vietnamese ships carrying Tet gifts for residents and military personnel living in the Truong Sa Islands District recently left the Cam Ranh Military Port in Khanh Hoa Province for their destinations.

On board were a large number of naval officers and men from the Navy Zone 4 High Command, and as many as 105 reporters from media agencies nationwide, including one from the DA NANG Newspaper.
According to Rear Admiral Nguyen Duc Vuong, the Political Commissar of the Navy Zone 4 High Command, the ships are carrying a total of 200 tonnes of food and essential goods for soldiers and residents in the district’s 33 islets.
Notable amongst the Tet gifts are ‘banh chung’ (sticky rice cakes), yellow apricot flowers, pink peach blossoms, and ornamental items.
Such a large amount of meaningful gifts will help the recipients celebrate the forthcoming Tet Festival, which will begin on 16 February, in a joyful and jubilant atmosphere.

Previously, organisations and businesses across the country had also presented gifts, worth over 1.5 billion VND in total, to residents and servicemen living in this district.
Hopefully, writings describing historical sites and the daily life on the islands from the participating reporters during their trips will partly help to affirm Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes, the country’s exclusive economic zone, continental shelf, and other sea and island areas.
