Before and during the recent Tet festival, the city leaders visited and extended their Tet greetings to social policy families, religious dignitaries, artistes across the city, and overseas Vietnamese people repatriating to their roots to celebrate Tet in the locality.

A total of 172 billion VND from the city budget was spent on granting Tet allowances to public servants, presenting Tet gifts to social policy beneficiaries, and refurbishing many streets.

Most notably, according to the latest statistics released by the municipal Department of Tourism, the city welcomed a total of 296,972 visitors over the 7-day Tet holiday break, up 14% against the same period last year.  132,079 of them were foreigners, up 27.6%, whilst the remainder were domestic visitors, up 5%.

The Traffic Police Division of the Da Nang Police Departmen said no road traffic accidents were reported in the city during the 7-day break.  In addition, traffic congestion was effectively controlled at local intersections and near popular public entertainment areas.

Addressing the meeting, Secretary Nghia highly applauded relevant local agencies for their great efforts to ensure a joyful and happy Tet for locals and visitors.

The city Party chief also emphasised a must-do for the local authorities to fulfil their assigned tasks well.

Importance should be attached to accelerating the progress of the city’s key construction projects, and boosting the development of the tourism, health care, education, clean industry, agriculture, and other aspects.

Special heed should be paid to reaching the city’s main socio-economic targets for 2018, thereby creating a momentum for its progress over the subsequent years.

The city’s top leader remarked, “We must exert even more endeavour to make new motivation and new vitality to boost our city’s growth, with a great expectation of making it become more liveable in the years ahead”.
