During Tuesday’s reception for General Director of the Ha Noi branch of the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Masanobu Nakanishi, Da Nang People's Committee (PC) Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh thanked the Japanese guest for his active involvement in fostering the city’s bilateral cooperation with SMBC over recent years.

Vice Chairman Minh also asked for help from Mr Masanobu Nakanishi to appeal for even more businesses from his country to invest in aspects in which the two sides show a keen interest.

The host vowed that the local authorities would create very favourable conditions for Japanese businesses to invest and operate effectively in the city.

In reply, Masanobu Nakanishi said he is about to end his tenure in Viet Nam as General Director of the Ha Noi branch of SMBC, and informed that Mr Seiji Kato will be his successor.

The Japanese guest thanked the municipal government for promoting the city's cooperation with SMBC over recent years. He also affirmed that he would do his utmost to further the city’s bilateral friendly and cooperative relationships with SMBC, and other Japanese businesses as a whole.

Previously on 29 January, representatives from the municipal PC and SMBC had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for providing support for Japanese businesses considering expanding their operations into the city.

Under the agreement, SMBC will assist the city to appeal for large potential Japanese businesses which have joined in the Corporation’s corporate client network.

SMBC is the second largest bank in Japan by assets, providing a complete range of financial services including retail and corporate banking, investment banking, asset management, securities trading and other commercial banking services.
