Chairman Tho spoke highly of the effective operation of Japanese-invested projects involving hi-tech and tourism in Da Nang over recent years, which has helped to promote the city’s economic growth in a sustainable manner.

The city leader highly hailed the fruitful results from Da Nang-Sakai cooperation since the establishment of bilateral friendly relations, and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on mutual development in 2009.

Mr Tho also asked for help from his Japanese guests to further promote the bilateral cooperation on such aspects in which their city boasts great advantages as processing industry, precision machinery manufacturing, and hi-tech. This would lift the bilateral relations between the 2 localities to new heights in the near future, he added.

The host underlined the importance of promoting positive results from cooperation programmes on various aspects between Da Nang and Japanese localities over recent years. Included are culture, education, investment promotion, trade, tourism, and solutions on building a smart city.

On behalf of Da Nang leaders, Mr Tho invited his Japanese guests to participate the on-going Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, and attend the Viet Nam-Japan Cultural Exchange Festival which is scheduled to be held in the city in the months ahead.

In reply, Mayor Osami Takeyama highlighted the significance of taking advantage of shared similarities to promote the development of the knowledge-based economy and hi-tech industry. In addition, importance should be attached to expanding bilateral cooperation in culture and education, as well as strengthening people-to-people exchange activities.

Also at the event, Assembly Chairman Nozato Fumimori and Vice Chairman Trung shared their mutual experiences on the operation of people-elected agencies. The two sides agreed to increase mutual information exchange to further promote the bilateral relations in the years ahead.
