Present at the event were municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia, Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, People’s Council Vice Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung, and other city leaders.

On behalf of the city leaders, Deputy Secretary Tri highlighted the important role of media agencies in widely publicising the city’s remarkable achievements, and contributing their constructive opinions about issues of concern relating to the management work of the local authorities.

He took the opportunity to urge local media agencies to continue making greater efforts for the city’s progress in the years ahead.

Addressing the event, the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang Journalists Association, Mr Nguyen Duc Nam, remarked that over recent years local media agencies have publicised the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State and the city amongst local citizens in a prompt and effective manner.

Apart from providing their readers with multi-dimensional information in a prompt and effective manner, the news media helps to guide public opinion in the right direction, honour good deeds in life, strictly criticise any negative phenomena in society, and create a high level of consensus amongst locals.

Of note, Mr Nam thanked the city leaders for creating very favourable conditions for reporters to create new media products attractive to their readers and viewers.

He affirmed that all reporters would continue cooperating closely with the city authorities and its residents to make Da Nang a peaceful and liveable city.

On the same day, Chairman Tho visited and congratulated the staff of the city-based VTV8, a channel of the Viet Nam Television (VTV), for the central and Central Highland regions, on their special day.

In a similar vein, the municipal government leader also paid visits to the city-located representative offices of the Thanh Nien (Youth) Newspaper in Central Viet Nam, and the Tuoi Tre Newspaper in mid-central region.

Also on Wednesday, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan visited and extended his best wishes to the leaders and reporters from the Cong An (Police) Newspaper, the Da Nang Radio and Television (DRT), and the city-based office of the Viet Nam Government Portal.

During his meeting with representatives from DRT, Vice Chairman Tuan asked the station’s staff would promote their strengths to produce even more high-quality radio and television programmes, hereby remaining their firm stature as an attractive ‘spiritual food’ for city-dwellers in the coming time.
