In particular, the city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 7.54% compared with the same period last year.

The production value of local services rose by 8.27% to reach an estimated 32,571.5 billion VND, representing 55% of the year’s target.

The industrial production value generated 1,250 billion VND, up 3.5% in comparison with the same period last year.

The industrial production index climbed by 7.81% against last year. The industrial parks attracted 12 projects worth 933.6 billion VND in total, whilst the Hi-tech Park attracted 4 projects totalling 102.5 million USD.

During that period, the total of taxes collected in the city hit 13,415.3 billion VND, fulfilling 51.85% of the year’s estimates set by the city authorities.

In addition, the ‘Talk of Spring 2018’ programme, as well as some scientific seminars on urban planning by 2030 with a vision towards 2045, and socio-economic development orientations by 2035, were successfully held in the city.

These positive results were reported at a meeting on Wednesday of the municipal Party Committee (PaC) to review the city’s performance in the first half of this year and identify new tasks for the rest of the year.

In his remarks at the review meeting, municipal PaC Secretary Truong Quang Nghia underlined that during the remaining months of the year, greater efforts should be made to implement the city’s landmark campaign ‘2018: The Year of Investment Promotion’, accelerate administrative reforms, create open and safe investment environment for businesses, and help local businesses deal with their current difficulties.

A focus will be on organising a discussion for local entrepreneurs to seek ways to enhance the city’s performance at the annual Provincial Competitiveness Index.

Importance will be attached to ensuring on-schedule construction progress of the hi-tech and dedicated information technology parks, and the Software Park No 2.

Also, effective measures to increase budget collection and a project to prevent tax evasion in high-risk sectors will be implemented.

The city authorities will intensify their State management in aspects of politics, security, and social orders, as well as push forward with streamlining the apparatus and operation of non-production public agencies.
