New city key posts voted
As part of the ongoing 7th session of the Da Nang People’s Council in its 9th tenure for the 2016 - 2021 term, the voting for some new city key officials took place on Monday.

Present at the event were municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia, municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong tri, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, municipal Fatherland Front Committee Chairwoman Dang Thi Kim Lien, and 48 members of the municipal People’s Council.
Mr Nguyen Nho Trung, the incumbent People’s Council Vice Chairman, was promoted to the Chairman of the city’s People’s Council, with 97.92% approval rate from People’s Council members.
Born in 1963, Mr Nho Trung was a native of Dien Hong Commune, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province. He graduated from the People’s Security University, and gained a Bachelor’s degree in the English language, and holds Master of Laws. In July 2015, Mr Nho Trung was appointed to be municipal People's Council Vice Chairman in its 8th tenure, and then, he was re-elected to the same post in its 9th tenure.
Mr Le Minh Trung, the Rector of the municipal School of Politics was elected as the municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman in the 9th tenure for the 2016 - 2021 term, with 100% approval rate from People’s Council members.
The 42-year-old official, whose hometown is in Dong Thap Commune, Dan Phuong District, Ha Noi, holds a Bachelor’s degree in tourism administration, and a Master’s degree in public management.
Mr Dang Viet Dung, the Head of the municipal Department of Publicity and Training was promoted to the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman for the 2016 - 2021 term, receiving the approval rate of 91.67%.
Mr Dung, a 58-year-old native of Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang, possesses a PhD in technology, a Master’s degree in irrigation, and a Bachelor’s degree in moto road engineering.
With 100% approval rate, Ms Phan Thi Thuy Linh, the Head of the Economics and Budged Board of the municipal People’s Council, was appointed as the Director of the municipal Department of Labour, War invalids and Social Affairs to replace Mrs Nguyen Thi Thanh Hung, who has retired.
On behalf of the city’s leaders, municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia congratulated the newly-elected key city officials on their new positions, and asked them to do their utmost to fulfil their assigned duties well.
In reply, new municipal People’s Council Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung expressed his great honour and pleasure at taking up the new position, and vowed that he, along with other People’s Council members in its 9th tenure for the 2016 - 2021 term, would exert every effort in a bid to satisfy the expectation of the Party, government and citizens of Da Nang.
Also at the event, the municipal People’s Council members agreed on key issues to be discussed at the ongoing 7th session.
Included are the specialised supervision of public investment, planning management of coastal projects, civil judgment enforcement, some socio-economic development issues and the city’s outstanding development strategies for the coming time.
In particular, in the spotlight of the Q & A event will be issues on such aspects as urban management, traffic, natural resources and the environment, and culture. Some questions will be answered in writing by the municipal People's Committee.
On the occasion of the opening of 7th session of the Da Nang People’s Council in its 9th tenure for the 2016 - 2021 term on Tuesday morning, a group of city leaders and the members of the municipal People’s Council, led by municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia and new-elected municipal People’s Council Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung, offered incense and laid wreaths at the 2 September Peace Monument.

The delegates observed a minute’s silence to commemorate heroic martyrs, Vietnamese heroic mothers, and ex-servicemen who laid down their lives for national reunification, plus those who gave great service to the national revolution.
